The matches are coming thick and fast for Brig, which is a knock-on effect from the winter when a number of fixtures were lost to the weather.

Glossop’s visit is one of five being squashed into an 11-day period for Neil Crowe’s men.

They played twice over Easter, losing to Trafford and Clitheroe. Last night they had a helping of Thursday football at Ossett Town, with the Glossop game following hot on its heels.

Brig are then back in action on Tuesday night when they make the trip to Clitheroe.

With a third successive crack at the play-offs now out of reach, barring a big swing of results, the remaining games are all about pride.

A strong finish to this season can also help with the build-up to next term. Brig boss Crowe said: “The lads are playing for their places for next season.

“We want to try and finish as high as we possibly can.”

Skipper Matt Lawlor will serve the second of a four-game ban tomorrow, the consequence of a red card against Burscough.

Glossop make the trip to Lancashire in good shape, the Peak District outfit currently in third place and looking good for a play-off place.

They were 5-1 winners over Mossley on Easter Monday, three of their goals coming from the penalty spot – all converted by different players.

That followed-up a 3-1 victory at Farsley Celtic 48 hours earlier.

Elsewhere in the NPL First Division North, Clitheroe host Ossett Albion tomorrow.

Kendal Town are at home to Droylsden, while Burscough make the trip to Radcliffe Borough.

Meanwhile, in the National League, Southport will be looking to build on a good Easter when they host Woking tomorrow. Port took four points from two games last weekend, beating Guiseley 2-0 and drawing 1-1 at Altrincham.

They are now eight points clear of the relegation zone with five games left.

Andy Bishop is in charge of Port for the rest of the season after the resignation of Dino Maamria last month.

Bishop has strengthened his squad with the signings of former AFC Fylde defender Alex Whittle, and Jonny Margetts, who has joined on loan from Tranmere.
