Prolific Carl Grimshaw scored another four goals,as Charnock Richard advanced to the Richardson Cup semi-final with an easy win over Burnley United.

Grimshaw scored two goals in either half with David Burrows and Jack Bennett scoring the others in an emphatic 6-1 victory.

Charnock will battle it out against rivals Blackpool Wren Rovers for a place in the final, with the game taking place next Tuesday, April 14.

The hosts immediately took charge of the tie, taking the lead in the third minute.

Burrows raced away down the right, his pull-back found Grimshaw and the big striker made no mistake slotting in at the near post.

Charnock continued to ask questions of Burnley and they doubled their lead in the

14th minute, with Grimshaw beating the goalkeeper from the penalty spot after Burrows was hauled down.

The Villagers then extended their lead further in the 21st minute, with Burrows rounding goalkeeper James Beck before slipping the ball into an empty net.

Beck produced two fine saves denying Grimshaw and Spencer Bibby.

Grimshaw then had a great chance to seal a first half hat-trick after Mark Woods was hauled down inside the area.

A spot kick was awarded but Grimshaw hit his penalty wide of the goal.

Moments after the miss, Burnley reduced the deficit when Gary Hodgkinson headed across Gavin Bates into the far corner.

Two minutes into the second half, Burnley’s James Blackburn saw a header rebound off the woodwork.

Grimshaw then squandered a one-on-one opportunity while David Fisher hooked a shot over the bar.

Six minutes before the hour, Charnock were awarded a third penalty when Beck brought down Grimshaw, and the striker atoned his earlier error by beating Beck with ease.

Six minute later, Grimshaw scored a fourth when heading in at the back post, before things went from bad to worse for the visitors as Adrian Cheetham was sent off in mysterious circumstances.

Joe Rodriguez had a great chance but he could only shoot wide before Paul Dugdale blazed a penalty wide after Olly Wood was tripped by Craig Banks.

Bennett rounded off a fine afternoon for the visitors by blasting his shot in the top corner.
