It’s now two defeats in two weeks against Huddersfield Town for Chorley Ladies after they lost 3-2 against their Yorkshire opponents.
Chorley improved on last week’s 6-1 drubbing but still slipped to their fourth defeat of the Northern Combination League season.
Despite the loss, Chorley still sit just one point off top-spot and have two games in hand over league leaders Mossley Hill.
Like the previous week, Chorley started the stronger and created half chances but it was Huddersfield who opened the scoring.
Skipper Danni Toward rallied her side and within a minute, Chorley were level.
Ruth Harrison hit a swerving free-kick into the box and Ali Hindley rose above everybody to draw Chorley level.
As the sides battled it out on a heavy pitch at Charnock, just prior to half-time, Town regained the lead after a slick passing move.
The second half started much slower with both sides aware of the attacking threat each other posed.
Natalie Parry smashed an effort that cannoned off the crossbar before a cool finish saw Town take a 3-1 lead.
Chorley continued to dig deep and Scarlett Smith scored five minutes from the end to set up a grandstand
But Huddersfield just held on to claim a vital three league points.
