Chorley FC manager Garry Flitcroft was again full of praise for his sides pre-season performance.
The Magpies took on a Manchester United XI, containing two young professionals in Andrea Perreira and James Wilson.
Although losing the tie 1-0 Flitcroft was pleased with the way his side competed.
He said: “We played really well and should have got something from the game.
“I’ve been impressed with all our pre-season performances.
“What is good is looking at the side seeing it is strong and knowing we can compete.”
Chorley took on Euxton Villa on Saturday and ran out 1-0 winners.
Josh Hine netted the only goal, converting a Kieran Walmsley cross in the victory as Flitcroft made full use of his squad.
Flitcroft was satisfied with the performance and will be looking to replicate it against Blackburn Rovers tonight and then Mossley and Salford in the coming weeks.
He added: “It’s nice to win the game but I’ve always said the results in pre-season don’t mean a thing.
“Blackburn will be bringing a good side from what I’m told so that will be a good test but I want us to really show what we can do againt Mossley and Salford.
Chorley will take on Blackburn Rovers tonight at Victory Park.
Kick off time will be 7.45pm and Blackburn Rovers are expected to be fielding a number of professionals.
