Injury-hit Chorley Ladies suffered great disappointment on Sunday as they crashed out of the Lancashire Cup.

They still went into their semi-final tie with fellow Northern Division One rivals Morecambe full of confidence but then slid to a 5-2 defeat to exit the county competition.

Chorley started confidently enough but it was Morecambe who took an early lead.

Natalie Parry brought Chorley back on equal terms with a fantastic shot from outside the box.

And Chorley then took the lead after an inch-perfect free-kick from Ruth Harrison, which found Kerry Bergin, who headed in.

But Morecambe soon found their feet and pressured Chorley into mistakes.

They quickly equalised and went ahead just before the half-time whistle.

Throughout the second half, Chorley lost players through injury and were unable to find an equaliser before Morecambe scored two more.

This coming Sunday, Chorley face another of their North West rivals when they travel to Tranmere Rovers for a league game.
