The 23-year-old made two appearances for North End before making the switch to Altrincham in 2012.

He has racked up more than 112 appearances for the Robins in a four-year spell before opting to move to Victory Park this summer.

But as one arrives another departs as Chorley defender Courtney Meppen-Walter joined fellow National League North side Stockport County yesterday.

The former Carlisle player and Manchester City trainee joined the Magpies last season but has followed in fellow Chorley defender Mark Ross’s footsteps by making the switch to County.

Stockport manager James Gannon told the club website: “Because of his CV and profile Courtney has had great interest with at least two league clubs contacting him and strong offers from Chorley and other clubs at National League level.

“Because of his ambition and potential it was the right step for him to leave his previous club and move towards bigger and better things.

“We hope to provide that next step for Courtney and we feel both parties can help each other regain higher level and full-time football in the near future.”

The Magpies have confirmed that striker James Dean is also set to leave the club. The experienced forward is believed to be joining an NPL Premier Division side.

Chorley will host Championship neighbours PNE in a pre-season friendly on July 9.
