PNE midfielder wants even more

The Lilywhites midfielder was pleased with the 12 points collected from six games but felt the haul could have been greater.

Three of their four home games ended in draws, that statistic nagging away at Browne as he reflected on last month’s work.

“September was a good month for us, there were some decent results in there but it could have been better with a few more points,” Browne told the Post.

“From the last few games we can take a lot of positives but there are also things we can improve on.

“You always look at your home fixtures and think they are probably the ones you should be winning.

“Millwall and Sunderland both set up to make things hard for us and we drew with both of them.

“To score twice against Sunderland and still not win was a bit frustrating.

“What happened in both the Sunderland game and against Barnsley a few weeks ago was that we conceded an equaliser straight away.

“Had we held the lead for any length of time in those games, we would probably have gone on to win.

“It is things like that we look at, analyse and make sure we improve on.”

The current international break is providing North End with the chance to get plenty of work done at Springfields as well as getting a breather.

PNE manager Alex Neil has given the players the weekend off but only after an intense few days work.

Said Browne: “We’ve just had a few hard sessions, got some work under our belts to make sure we don’t fall behind with our fitness.

“Next week we will start to have a look at the Fulham game and plan for that.

“Sometimes you look at the international break and wish you could carry on playing.

“But the style of football we are playing is so intense that we probably need this break.

“So it has come at a good time and there is the chance to get a few injuries cleared up.

“We’ve been without a few players and hopefully we can get one or two back soon.

“I’ve had a look at the games coming up and it will be good to go into those refreshed.

“Fulham and Wolves away will be tough, then it is home games against Brentford and Aston Villa.

“Every game is tough, teams are starting to find their shape now that they’ve played a few games.

“It is up to us to prepare right and do the business.

“We have shown what we can do in the first couple of months of the season and there is more to come.

“The manager is working hard to make that happen.”
