PNE were knocked out of the FA Cup by the Premier League side - who ran out 4-0 winners at Stamford Bridge
Preston North End were beaten 4-0 by Chelsea in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday.
Here are our five talking points from Stamford Bridge.
5. In game changes and PNE's team
It was a more positive PNE XI than many expected, on the back of Ryan Lowe discussing the need to be hard to beat in his pre-match press conference. Millar was involved and Keane partnered Osmajic in attack. Preston were willing to push bodies forward in the first half and that was refreshing to see. In the second half though, Osmajic and Keane made way for Ched Evans and Emil Riis - two minutes before Chelsea scored their second. From there, PNE had very little chance of getting back into the game realistically and it was disappointing that North End were unable to utilise their bench more effectively - after all that first half work. Lowe said post-match: "I think the respect Mauricio showed us from the start; I didn't read any comments about the team but people were saying there might've been 10 changes and whatnot. We didn't really show the lads the (expected) team, like we normally do on a Thursday or Friday, because we didn't know what it would be. I think he showed us massive respect, putting those players out. Our lads deserve a lot of credit going toe-to-toe, especially before we conceded."
