Preston North End manager backs his side against former Premier League side Watford ahead of Championship clash

The Hornets come to Deepdale on Saturday, 3pm, but have been getting plenty of attention following their relegation in May.

Both sides go into the game unbeaten in the Championship, PNE yet to concede and Watford winning two and drawing two.

Lowe won’t be taking Watford lightly but insists the visitors should not be taking his side lightly.

“We respect them, of course, but we don't fear anyone,” Lowe said.

“They are one of the bigger sides in the division but they have no given right to turn up anywhere and just pick up points.

"Rob Edwards will be careful of that and will know that, he'll make sure his players aren't thinking that. I don't think you can disrespect anyone in the Championship, the league is relentless.

"The league can throw up all kinds of results. Watford are a good team, a good club, that have just come down from the Premier League but we're a good team, a good football club.

"Just because they're Watford and we're Preston means nothing. We'll make sure we're on it 100 per cent and you have to make sure you're on it 100 per cent to get points, let alone win.”

North End’s unbeaten start to the season has left them just outside the play-off places but Lowe is not getting carried away just yet.

He feels that table will take shape a little but further down the line, but points are always more than welcome.

He said: “It's nice to be up there at the moment but it's not massively important, we're only four games in, the points are important.

"I think after eight or 12 games in you'll find it levels and then you see where you are. If you can stay in there, you want to do that for as long as you can.

"It's important not to get beat, sometimes people will say it's better to win a couple and lose a couple but I like to go on runs where you're unbeaten and not conceding many goals.

"If we continue to do that, and find the wins, it will pay off for you.”
