Swansea went a goal behind at PR1, as former Swan Scott Sinclair put PNE 1-0 up with a spectacular effort carrying the ball forward before bending into the far corner.

Rhian Brewster levelled the game before the interval after a well worked Swansea move resulted in him having an empty net to bundle the ball into, the game ending 1-1.

Ahead of the clash, Cooper was aware of PNE's excellent home record and felt that getting tactics right was important.

He said: "It’s quite common for teams to really analyse each other, you have to be ready with your game plan when you come here.

"Our focus is on ourselves, we try and focus on ourselves first and then the opposition but we certainly has to do that today.

"They’re a competitive team, particularly here. They play with a lot of confidence, I like Preston because I have a lot of respect for them.

"I don’t know Alex too well, I’ve only met him when we’ve played him a few times but I've got a lot of respect for what he’s already done as a coach and a manager in the game. Hopefully I can catch up with him now.

"They’re a good team and we knew we had to be on the front foot, competitive and stand up and be counted."

Swansea have an eye-catching forward line, with Andre Ayew, Conor Gallagher, Bersant Celina and Rhian Brewster all lining up at Deepdale.

But for the Swansea boss, it was also about managing North End's threats, and he expects them to keep causing problems throughout the campaign.

"They’ve got some good players up the pitch that can make a difference," Cooper said.

"On the large, apart form the goal, I think we defended that quite well.

"I know there was a block from Joe late on but has Freddie really had a save to make of any note? I don’t think so.

"I think Preston will continue to be the team they’ve been all season, a real handful."
