Chorley skipper Andrew Teague insists that pre-season is all about fitness and fans should not worry about the results.
It comes after some fans vented their frustrations after Saturday’s pre-season defeat against Bamber Bridge.
Chorley lost 3-1, with Josh Hine the scorer for the Magpies.
But despite the defeat, Teague insists everything is going well.
He said: “Pre-season is all about fitness and getting used to playing games.
“Bamber Bridge probably raised their game a little against us and they did play well.
“Obviously we are disappointed to lose, but it doesn’t mean anything, some lads managed to get the game time and we still had quite a few missing.”
Garry Flitcroft’s side were defeated 3-2 by Preston North End last Tuesday.
Tonight, Tuesday, they meet League One outfit Fleetwood Town at the Chorley Group Victory Park stadium.
And Teague has high hopes for the fixture.
He added: “I hope Fleetwood bring a strong side down as it will be great to come up against quality players.
“We showed what we can do against Preston and that was our first game in pre-season.
“Training is going well and all the new signings are bedding in nicely, Fleetwood is only our third pre-season game and it’s important all the lads can get their fitness back.”
Teague isn’t looking into the results and admitted that the Magpies have never done anything outstanding in a pre-season campaign.
He said: “Last year we didn’t do anything special, we played good sides and got fit and we got off to a flier.
“It’s happened every time I’ve been here, we are all looking forward to the start of the season against Leamington.
“That is when it really matters and the results count.”
Adults can see tonight’s friendly for £7 while concessions are priced at £5. Under-16s are £3 while under-12s are free.
