The Whittle-le-Woods star can claim that he beat a Djokovic at the weekend, as the teenager defeated Novak’s younger brother Marko at the the Preston Pro-Series at South Ribble Tennis Centre in Bamber Bridge.
The 17-year-old was drawn against the Serbian ,who is 660th ranked in the world ,in the first round of the $10,000 tournament.
Dad Sean said: “Imran managed to get a wildcard place in the competition, and he was delighted about getting through to the next round.
“Marko had a lot more experience playing at the top level.
“It was a great result and he is really pleased as it gives him a lot of confidence that he can do that against other players.
“Overall it meant he picked up ranking points which could help him go up a few places.”
Aswat continues to grow and flourish by going to Shaw Hill Hotel to improve his fitness as well as practicing at South Ribble Centre.
Sean added: “Imran set himself specific goals at the start of the year. He is working towards it and I think that he has the ability to go up the rankings.
“He wants to break into the top 1,500 and hopefully even higher to rise up to 1,000.
“He has a lot of potential and we are trying to support him to reach his goal.”
