Lee Childs virtually single-handedly steered Croston to an 85-run win over White Coppice.
The Australian all-rounder smashed 105 off 94 balls and then took 5-54 in a remarkable individual performance.
Only one other player - Chris Rand (25) - reached double figures in the Croston innings, which was boosted by 28 extras.
It could have all been so different if Childs hadn’t survived a massive first ball LBW appeal off Wayne Dixon.
Dixon’s spell of 7-72 - which was ruined by being hit for three sixes in his last over - had Croston wobbling at 103-7 but Childs dominated proceedings from there on in to reach his 100 in the penultimate over.
In reply White Coppice’s batsman failed to get going.
Four players reached double figures with the only highlight being a mature knock of 21 not out by youngster Thomas Bates.
* White Coppice 2nds lost top spot in Division Four of the Palace Shield with their first defeat of the season.
Batting first Steve Harris’ men appeared to have enough when they closed on 190-9 off 45 overs, thanks to an explosive knock of 79 by Ilyas Ghajra.
However Withnell Fold 2nds had other ideas and an unbeaten 76 not out by Andrew Robertson saw them romp to a six-wicket win.
* Croston 2nds had a easy win against Thornton Cleveleys 4ths in Division Six.
Thornton Cleveleys reached a paltry 44 all out - which saw extras finish top scorer with 19.
Andrew Morgan was pick of the bowlers with 3-11.
In reply Croston lost three quick wickets but an unbeaten 20 from Sean Dalton settled the nerves.
