Lisa Whiteside is the Commonwealth Games champion after she defeated Northern Ireland’s Carly McNaul in the flyweight final on the Gold Coast.
In an action-packed final, both fighters gave it their whole over the three rounds, but it was the cleaners shots by Whiteside which handed her a unanimous points victory.
The 32-year-old began the contest in great fashion, finding success with some solid right-handers and catching the chin of her opponent with some excellent left hooks.
McNaul had a bit more success in the second round, but Whiteside maintained her ferocious work rate to keep troubling the Irish woman.
In superb final round, both fighters went toe to toe, but it was the Chorley-born boxer whose hand was raised after the final bell.
"It's not real is it," said Whiteside, whose career looked like it was over in 2015 when she fractured her skull in a freak accident.
"I am absolutely made up. There's been some tough times for me, but I've done it."
