CHORLEY teenage golf sensation Emily Taylor led the seven English amateurs who cleared the first hurdle for a place in the Ricoh Women’s British Open

They were among the 30 players who got through pre-qualifying at The Berkshire and now go forward to join the field at final qualifying at Caldy on September 10.

The championship is at Royal Liverpool on September 13-16.

Emily, who plays at Hillside, topped pre-qualifying with a round of five-under- par 67, which underlined her great form this season.

As well as winning English girls’ championship the 17-year-old is also the Irish women’s open stroke play champion, and the winner of the U18 titles at both the English women’s stroke play - where she was third overall - and the British women’s stroke play, where she was fourth.

Meanwhile, Emily will represent England Golf in the World Amateur Team Championships for the Espirito Santo Trophy at Antalya in Turkey the month and in October.
