Euxton Cricket Club’s under 13 side beat Lowerhouse Cricket Club in the Lancashire League Cup final.
Having won the toss, Euxton posted a challenging total of 113-5 from their 20 overs with Josh Boyden top scoring with 33, Ben Houghton 27, supported by Daniel Barber 14 and Thomas Clutton 13.
In reply, Lowerhouse lost early wickets with Oliver Lombard taking 1-2 from his opening three overs, while Ben Cooper added 3-11 from his first three overs. Wickets then fell at regular intervals as Lowerhouse struggled to keep up with the increasing run rate. Scott Cowell took 2-6 and captain Thomas Hussain 1-2 in the middle of the innings, putting an end to the Lowerhouse run chase, as they finished on 69-7, resulting in a 44-run win for Euxton.
Euxton now go forward to the LCB County knock out competition as cup winners for 2016.
In the Ribblesdale League, Euxton’s first team’s game at Whalley was abandoned.
In the Palace Shield Premier Division Croston beat Fylde by six wickets in a 23-over game. Croston made 87-4. chasing Fylde’s 84-8.
In the second division, Whittle and Clayton-le-Woods beat Blackpool 3rds and Mawdesley lost to Wrea Green.
