Hat-trick hero Joe Sharratt was the architect as Chorley Panthers Under-15s romped to victory against Rochdale Mayfield.

The game was a very tight affair with the scores locked at 10-10 at the half-time interval.

And the second half wasn’t made any easier when Adam Hooper and Matt Ashcroft departed through injury.

But a gutsy display saw the young Panthers team run out 24-10 winners.

Jai Lilley also crossed the whitewash, while Christian Kellett was outstanding going forward and Josh Rourke once again impressed with his kicking.

n Panthers Under-10s lost out 28-16 against a well-drilled Golborne Eagles side.

Golborne took an early lead before Adam Kirby reduced the deficit.

Further tries saw Golborne take control but a late Harvey Thompson try meant Panthers were in the game at the break.

Chorley struck first in the second half with a

well-taken try by Mark Critchley drawing the sides level, but two late tries from Golborne saw them run out the winners.

n The points were shared as Panthers Under-13s’ opening league fixture against Langworthy Reds provided a great game of rugby league.

Tom Williams and Charlie Mitchinson both scored outstanding tries but Panthers failed to shake off a dogged Langworthy as the sides drew 20-20.

n Panthers Under-11s welcomed Waterhead and the hosts took the lead inside five

minutes.

Panthers held their own but shortly before the interval, Waterhead scored two tries of their own to take the lead at the interval.

Both sides scored tries of their own in the second half and plenty of big challenges were being made, but Chorley couldn’t draw level and Waterhead ran out 26-16 winners.
