Chorley 10 Carnforth 24

Chorley finally came undone against a strong Carnforth side and lost ground in the battle for third place.

Injury and missing players took their toll before kick-off, but a good Chorley side went to Carnforth full of optimism.

This was short-lived, as right from the kick-off Chorley were on the back foot. Carnforth pressure soon reaped reward, and they crashed over for the opening try.

The visitors woke up, went up field, and applied their own pressure, and Ben Renton crossed the line.

Later in the game, injuries to Simon Frost, prop Chris Cowling and scrum-half Rob Melling were starting to take their toll.

Two further tries from Carnforth were starting to put the game beyond them.

However, the second half brought renewed passion, and despite conceding a further try, Chorley played to the last minute, and were rewarded with a great consolation score.

There were some impressive displays from Wui Ringo and Stuart Harris.

Chorley are at home next week, and will be desperate to win.
