Blackpool's Bootleg bar bags a biggie
It can mean only one things. DJs.
Have music will travel. Scott (Boca 45) and Lee (DJ Woody) had been DJing at different events the night before and found themselves seated alongside on the next two flights back to Blighty.
And thus a bromance was born in turntable heaven and with it the great BocaWoody NW/SW collaboration, an EP of six fantastic tracks and a tour which brings the pair to Blackpool’s Bootleg, on Topping Street, on Sunday night (May 29) for the Bank Holiday Bootleg night of much booty.

The event marks the album launch party for two time world champion scratch Dj Woody and Boca 45.
DJ Woody, a native Lancastrian, is hailed one of the most creative turntablists of his generation, counting Mixmaster Mike and DJ Obert among fans. His skills are much sought for tours and recordings with the likes of Tim Simenon, Madlib, Oli Teeba, DJ Vadim and Grammy award winner Mala Rodrigues. He also co-designed the world’s first and only turntable to play musical scales which he uses in the Bocawoody recordings.
Then there’s Bristolian legend Scott Boca who’s earned a mighty reputation for his work with Andy Smith as Dynamo Productions, with Gee Ealey as Malachai (Domino Records) plus other collaborative projects alongside his many solo records on various record labels.

He also has A List fans such as Serge from Kasabian and Huey Morgan at BBC 6 Music. It balances out all the tribute acts in town for the bank holiday, that’s for sure, and builds on the town’s burgeoning ‘breaking’ rep with the sound stemming from the pair’s hip hop roots, ranging from Bboy breaks, electro workouts, scratched up dusty funk to eery eastern soundtracks.
