You will. Rib Ticklers Comedy Clubs play Blackpool’s Bootleg on Saturday and there’s a serious message behind the customary comic - if dated - intro.

For starters there’s the ‘make money for talent as opposed to taking money from talent’ ethos behind Rib Ticklers, established by working comedians as a not-for-profit organisation, helping create a ‘sustainable working environment for comedians across the UK.’ If that doesn’t sound a bag of laughs Saturday’s show will be - it takes the joke scenario ‘an Englishman, Chinaman and a Joker walk into a bar’ and brings it to life.

It’s written by the three irregularly matched protagonists in the running gag - Matt Fong and Nick Banks joined by some of their favourite ‘Jokers’ on tour.

The inspiration is in Matt’s background. He’s been described as “half Chinese, half English, 100 per cent funny”. The material’s witty and whimsical, tempered with a healthy dash of sarcasm, but the observations cut to the quick - and to the heart of politically correct comedy. The pair plus Joker pack in the punchlines as well as their perspectives of identity in modern life.
