Today, shoppers can spot Santa driving around the market in his own little decorated car – and stopping to chat to some younger customers en route.

And, on Saturday, children will again be able to catch Charlie the Chimp who returns to talk about his Christmas wish list. These are the last few days in a programme of family fun the market is running for the festive season.

Events have included pupils from Lea Community Primary School and the Royal Cross Primary signing and singing Christmas carols.

And, of course, there will be plenty of stalls from which to choose some cutprice last minute presents or fresh veg and local produce for the Christmas feast.
