As the May bank holiday approaches next weekend our thoughts should be firmly fixed on summer.
Yet if the temperatures this weekend are anything to go by it’s more autumnal than anything.
And when it comes to our wardrobes the majority are still sporting winter togs with woollens and fleece to the fore.
The shops are doing their level best, bless them, to tempt us with sunshine appropriate dresses, shorts and skimpy T shirts and sandals.
But all those who want to steer clear of chilblains and a blue hue to their nether regions are swerving the temptation.
However, if you’re either desperate to buy a summer fashion treat, however reckless that may be, or are going away on holiday to sunnier climes, then feast your eyes on these high summer trends.
Dungarees are getting their sporadic moment in the fashion ether this year. While the full length variety might be too much to stomach, these cute shortie version is fun for the beach.
The Marc Cain cream shorts are smart enough for evening or even the office if you’ve got the legs - and youth on your side.
Dresses are always a reliable way to get into a seasonal look and these styles, in the stripes or the vibrant pattern would work even in the current unseasonal weather.
When the sun finally begins to shine we can let our toes see the light of day and these sandals are a beautiful way to do just that.
Let’s hope the chance to do so comes soon.
After all, the nights begin to darken earlier in just eight weeks time.........
