Legend Courtney in the act

Courtney Pine
Courtney Pine

Courtney Pine will be at The Dukes in Lancaster later this month to headline the city’s Jazz Festival.

The legendary saxophonist plays on September 18, fresh from sell out shows across the US, Canada and performances at Bestival, Love Supreme and The London Jazz Festival.

Pine is touring critically acclaimed new album House of Legends, which was Jazzwise album of the year and features him exclusively on soprano saxophone for first time.

Expect an exhilarating mix of Merengue, Ska, Mento and Calypso played by an English musician with strong, proud Afro-Caribbean roots.

The Dukes will welcome another popular name on the jazz scene during September’s festival, when Dennis Rollins brings his Velocity Trio to play.

The renowned band leader fronts this trombone-led trio with Hammond organ and drums, creating moods from funky and groovy to melodic and lyrical in The Round on September 20.

Tickets for Courtney Pine are £20 and tickets for Dennis Rollins’ Velocity Trio are priced £5-£20 (a £1 fee applies when booking online).
