Tickets are still available for a one-off outdoor theatre performance for all the family being held in the Walled Garden on Chorley’s Astley Park.

Everyone is invited to come along, bring a picnic – and a seat – to enjoy Theatre in the Park, one of a number of events being held in
Astley Park as part of Chorley
Council’s summer events

Alice – An Extraordinary Adventure is an energetic adaptation of both Lewis Carroll’s books, Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass, and promises to be a real treat for all the family.

The show was performed at Preston’s Brockholes nature reserve at the weekend and went down a storm.

The picnicking families were entertained to two hours of humour and fun with a modern twist on the traditional children’s story, casting Alice as a high tech 11-year-old who enjoys nothing more than playing chess on her i-Pad.

Coun Peter Wilson, deputy leader of Chorley Council said: “The award-winning theatre company, Heartbreak Productions, are putting on this special performance as the climax of their summer tour across the country so it would be great if we could get a ‘full house’. They’ve been here before with a different show last year which proved extremely popular which is why we’ve got them back this year.

“This new show has had fantastic reviews everywhere it has been performed and the Walled Garden is a perfect setting for it, so I’d urge people to get their tickets and come along with a picnic and enjoy what promises to be a fantastic evening of fun for the whole family.”

It’s being held on Sunday, September 1 at 5pm and tickets are priced £12 for adults, £8 for concessions and children 16 and under, or £32 for a family ticket of two adults and two children.

Accompanied children under five get in free.

The tickets are available from Café Ambio (no card payments) or online from, just follow the links from there.

Drivers attending the event are urged to use the town centre car parks, which are free on Sundays to be considerate to residents.

There will be a limited number of spaces available on Hallgate car park.
