It’s the sparkling highlight of Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s entertainment calendar.
And, this year, Hot Ice promises even more glitz and glamour as it celebrates its 80th anniversary.
As Blackpool Pleasure Beach marks its 120th anniversary, there’s another milestone birthday for the Hot Ice team.
Take your seats in the theatre for a glamorous, fast moving ice show packed with hundreds of sequin-studded costumes and incredibly daring lifts.
This year’s Hot Ice show, Obsession, runs from tonight to September 10.
Hot Ice really is a family affair as it was Leonard Thompson, grandfather of current Blackpool Pleasure Beach managing director, Amanda Thompson, who commissioned world-famous architect Joseph Emberton to design and build the Arena in 1936 and founded the very first ice show in 1937.
A love of skating and a passion for the ice has been passed down through the generations, as Hot Ice is currently produced and directed by Amanda Thompson.
It brings together some of the world’s best skaters, with numerous national, world and Olympic champions having performed in the show since its inception.
This has made Hot Ice one of the world’s best known and most beloved ice skating shows with a reputation for amazing choreography and stunning costumes.
This year’s show – entitled Obsession – promises to celebrate its 80th anniversary in real style.
Expect the usual glitz and glamour as a cast of 31 amazing ice stars put on a show designed to thrill audiences while reflecting on the history of this great show.
Tickets start at £15 for adults and £10 for children.
There are both matinee and evening performances. Matinees start at 2.30pm and have a running time of 50 minutes and evening performances start at 7pm, with a running time of 100 minutes.
