Diggers are busy tearing apart the supermarket which opened in 1993 and has twice been extended - in 2006 and 2016.
But after 27 years, Aldi bosses decided that the supermarket had become "outdated and tired", with a decision made last year to raze it and build a brand new, bigger store in its place.

Hide AdPlans were given the go ahead in July for a new “high-quality” development with a “contemporary” look.
An opening date for the new store has not been confirmed at this stage, but staff have been advised that it is likely to be sometime in Autumn.
The new store will boast 1,254 square metres of floor space area compared with the previous 982 square metres, enough for around two extra aisles. The layout will be more "customer-focussed" with wider aisles and "easy to browse" freezers
It will also benefit from six extra car parking spaces, with a total 105 available to its shoppers.

Hide AdAldi says the new store will also be much greener with the latest energy-saving measures built into its design.
Opening hours are set to remain the same (8am-10pm Monday to Saturday and 10am-4pm Sunday).
The transformation is part of Aldi’s £300m investment into improving its stores as it continues its expansion across the UK, with a particular emphasis on Preston.
As well as building a new, bigger store at Deepdale Retail Park, it also has plans for new stores at Preston Docks and Cottam. If the new stores go ahead, it would mean Aldi would have six supermarkets in the city.

Hide AdAldi opened its newest store in Fulwood in 2019 and revamped its Queens Retail Park last September.
A brand new store is also being built in Leyland - just half-a-mile from its current store in Towngate.
