Horse rescued from water-filled gully

Firefighters sprang into action to rescue a horse in danger.

Officers were alerted at around 3.40pm today to an incident in Stibbs Lane, Banks, near Southport.

Three fire engines from Darwen, Tarleton and Leyland attended a horse trapped in water in a gully.

Firefighters used animal rescue equipment to release it.
