Firefighters spent an hour putting out a house fire in Preston in the early hours of this morning.

A fire had broken out on the first floor of the Penwortham property on Buckingham Avenue at around 2.30am.

Two fire engines from Bamber Bridge and Penwortham went to the detached house and crews used two breathing apparatus sets, one hose reel and a ventilation unit to extinguish the fire.

Lancashire Fire Service said there were no reported injuries and an investigation is underway.
