Emergency services rush to M61 crash involving three children and two adults

Three children and two adults were involved in crash on the M61 at around 2am this morning (February 26).
Fire crews and the ambulance service rushed to the scene on the northbound carriageway just after Rivington services.

Hide AdThree fire engines from Chorley and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene after a car had left the motorway.
Five casualties were cut from the car.
A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 2.02am to a road traffic collision.
"We sent one operational commander, three ambulances and one rapid response vehicle to the scene.
"Three children sustained minor injuries.
"One male and one female suffered serious head and back injuries.

Hide Ad"The female's injuries were more serious but are not thought to be life threatening."
A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire and Rescue said: "Three fire engines from Chorley and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service were called to a road traffic collision on the M61 northbound just after Rivington services.
"A car had left the motorway and five casualties were released by firefighters and treated by paramedics at the scene."
